Zostel Dalhousie- Review

Located along the slopes of a mountain in the Dauladhar range and away from the crowded by lanes of Gandhi chowk, Zostel Dalhousie offers scenic views all round. The hostel is quite a colourful and vibrant one with large common spaces, an ideal place to sip some hot tea gazing at the mountains. It offers dormitories which are 2 beds, 4 beds, 6 beds and 8 beds with a common bath for each. Located 3 Kms from Gandhi chowk in Kholpukar, it’s a winding road through the tall deodhar trees to Zostel Dalhousie. The rates for the dormitories start from INR 499. Locals say that bears are commonly found on Kholpukhar road after dark and it is recommended to get to the hostel soon after sunset and be less adventurous.

What I loved:

Location: Away from the crowds, it has a lovely location facing the mountains.

Rooms and Baths: The dormitories are well kept and the baths are neat.

Common Spaces: There are a couple of common areas near the dormitories, next to the dining area and the terraces. They have quite a few indoor games and books to read. Videos related to travel are also played here occasionally.

Staff: Ashim and his team and friendly and are eager to help you explore Dalhousie.

What I did not like:

Restaurant: The food is good but the dishes are quite highly priced. There are no other restaurants close by and the nearest ones are only in Gandhi chowk.

Setting: While the place offers lovely views being located along the slope of a mountain, it also makes carrying heavy luggage down the fleet of steps a tough job. The dormitories are further down.
